Strathaven Choral Society commissioned the setting of text, specially written by Lisa Hendry in a competition, for chorus and small orchestra. Financial assistance towards the cost of the commission was provided by Strathaven Community Council and the Scottish Arts Council in celebration of the the Society's 25th Anniversary
