Strathaven Choral Society
Following 10 to 15 minutes when members have the opportunity to catch up with the week's events, the practice commences with what is probably the most important of the evening - The Warm Up - starts at 7:30pm prompt. Around the middle of the evening there is a short break in singing of no more than 15 minutes. Practice will finish at 9:30pm. Some members enjoy a post-practice social discourse for a few minutes at the conclusion.

The Musical Director, Aidan Broadbridge, was appointed in September 2003. Since January 2003, Douglas Hamilton has accompanied rehearsals.
SCS is run by its members who elect the committee at the AGM, normally held in June. A photograph of the choir was taken immediately before the 25th Anniversary Concert in Autumn 1997 (including David Hamilton and Gareth Wilson, who were the Musical Director and Accompanist respectively at the time). Information on previous concerts and a listing of the repertoire is provided.
During the year there are various social and other events. During May 2007 Strathaven Choral Society will hosted a choir from Stockholm in Sweden.
Strathaven Choral Society are members of Making Music (previously known as the National Federation of Music Societies - NFMS).
