Strathaven Choral Society
The Spring 2000 Concert of Strathaven Choral Society was held on Sunday 9 April 2000 in Hamilton Town Hall, South Lanarkshire. The evening's entertainment took the mood from the penitential phase of the Christian Calendar in the lead up to Easter; on Passion Sunday - the second Sunday before Easter.
The evening commenced with a Drama for Passiontide in the style of a Medieaval Mystery Play, performed by Hamilton District Youth Theatre, followed by a light supper.
The Passiontide theme continued with The Choral Society, joined by the choir from Holy Cross High School Hamilton, performing Bach's St. John Passion. The performance was in German and at Baroque Pitch. David Hamilton, Musical Director of Strathaven Choral Society conducted The Scottish Baroque Players, led by Angus Ramsey (and managed by Bryan Free). A video backdrop interpretation of the Passion ran concurrently with the performance, produced by Big Day Video Productions (Director - Brian Eagleson)
